Common Myths in Aesthetics

There are many myths about aesthetics. We are here to tell you what is true and false.

Anti-Wrinkle treatment can only be used to treat wrinkles

Anti-Wrinkle treatment can be used for many things other than just treating wrinkles. It can also be used to help with migraines, excessive sweating, relaxing the muscles to raise the eyebrows, opening up the eyes more and it can even be used to help the appearance of gummy smiles!

Anti-Wrinkle treatment is the same as Dermal Filler

There is a common misconception that Dermal Filler is the same as an Anti-Wrinkle treatment, but this is not the truth! The Anti-Wrinkle treatment relaxes the muscles, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal Filler is used in areas where you want to add definition and volume. It also helps to fill lines, to lift, tighten and plump areas of the face such as the cheeks, jaw and marionette lines.

Anti-Wrinkle treatment takes a day to work

When undergoing any treatment, we usually expect the results to be instant. This is not the case for Anti-Wrinkle treatment! Results of Anti-Wrinkle treatment can take up to 2 weeks to fully kick in. The best results you'll see from your Anti-Wrinkle treatment will usually be 5-6 weeks post-treatment.

With Dermal Filler, we can see the results instantly, however, it can take up to 3-4 weeks to fully settle and to see the final results!

You will appear to have a frozen face after getting the Anti-Wrinkle treatment

Many people expect that with an Anti-Wrinkle treatment, you will appear to have the ‘frozen look’. You can achieve natural results with the Anti-Wrinkle treatment. But, if you want the ‘frozen look’ we can do that too! It’s very much down to client preference.

Premium fillers work the same as cheaper fillers

Specific areas of the face require different types of Dermal Filler to look natural or enhanced. The technology in premium fillers means they are often more natural-looking, last longer and are less likely to be visible and cause lumps and bumps. This leads us to our next myth…

There is no difference between fillers

Fillers have a wide variety of thicknesses and firmness. This is to suit different areas of the face and the type of results an individual requires.

The results of Anti-Wrinkle treatment and Dermal Filler are permanent

The results of Anti-Wrinkle treatment and Dermal Filler are not permanent. The longevity of Dermal Filler entirely depends on the area that is being treated and the product that is used but is never permanent. Anti-Wrinkle treatment can last up to 3 months, so many of our clients receive 3 monthly appointments to maintain their results from Anti-Wrinkle treatment. This can sometimes result in the Anti-Wrinkle treatment lasting even longer!

Dermal fillers will make you look fake

You can achieve all sorts of results with Dermal Fillers. We can achieve natural results using Dermal Fillers, depending on the product used and the injecting itself. For some people, this is a preference, but we always have an in-depth consultation to discuss the exact results you are trying to achieve, but if you're looking for more noticeable results, we can do that for you too!

Dermal Fillers are irreversible

Dermal Fillers can always be reversed by a filler dissolver called Hyaluronidase. This means that any Dermal Filler treatment can be reversed! Though Dermal Filler treatments are reversible, you shouldn't attend your appointment thinking this. This is why in all of our appointments we go through an extensive consultation to determine the results you are hoping to achieve, to avoid having to get any filler dissolved.

I am too old for Dermal Fillers

As long as you are 18 or over, you can receive Dermal Fillers at any age! The ageing process is inevitable, and there are so many options for Anti-Wrinkle and Dermal Filler treatments. That’s why we always offer a detailed, comprehensive consultation, allowing you to discuss your concerns and allowing our practitioners to make suitable recommendations for you as an individual.
