Chemical vs Physical Sunscreens: What is the difference?

It is important to understand how crucial it is to be treating your skin everyday with an SPF (Sun Protection Factor). The two main benefits from using an SPF are:

- To protect the skin against skin cancer Too much exposure to sun will let UV rays penetrate the outer layers and pass to deeper layers where they can kill or damage cells which can lead to mutations and is the major cause of skin cancer

- To protect the skin from ageing The sun’s rays are responsible for 80% of skin ageing, it reduces elastin and degrades the skin texture

What is the difference between chemical and physical sunscreen?

Chemical sunscreens absorb the sun's rays and physically deflect and degrade in the heat, they need to be reapplied throughout the day.

Unlike chemical sunscreens, physical sunscreens do not degrade in the heat and create physical protection against UVA and UVB rays.
