( the darkness ). Once the light hits the hair the energy form changes from light to heat and results in a short bolt of heat travelling down the hair follicle to the root of the hair. The heat damages the follicle and interferes with the growth cell, A simple rule of thumb for laser hair removal is that 20% of the follicles treated in a single session will not produce re-growth. Then 20% of the remaining area will be effected the next treatment and then 20% of what’s left will be effected the treatment after that and so on, until the area is clear. This effect may in some cases be completely permanent, however due to hormones, stress, medications such as the pill etc, its impossible to say whether the effects of laser hair removal will be totally permanent. Usually, 6 to 8 sessions of laser hair removal will be needed to clear an area with laser hair removal, but from our experience this is just a rough guide, we have experienced complete clearance in just two sessions and have patients attend treatment for 15 to 20 sessions to obtain complete clearance.
