Acne prone skin is far too efficient in producing skin cells, in fact it can produce cells at 5 times the rate of a non-acne sufferer. Problems arise because the body is not so efficient at shedding these excess dead skin cells creating a build up on the skins surface.

The skin irrespective of area, be it body or face always has present good and bad bacteria on its surface which are all very necessary, however in the cases of acne, the presence of a particular bad bacteria ‘Proprionibacteria’ is more abundant and can become problematic.

So what does all this mean? What can be done? What is the answer ……..?

The combination of the increased presence of dead skin cells building up and with the excessive oil production eventually pores become either partially clogged resulting in blackheads, pimples and papules or completely blocked resulting in the perfect environment deep within the follicle for the proprionibacteria to thrive, resulting in ‘Acne’.
